KFC Australia were forced to issue a statement after controversy erupted over an advertisement featuring West Indies supporters.

In the advert, a lone Australian among an overly cheerful crowd of West Indian supporters uses a bucket of KFC chicken to shut them up.

Australian KFC officials say the advert was "misinterpreted by a segment of people in the US and it is a light-hearted reference to the West Indian cricket team"
